Pia Kinhult is Head of Host States Relations at European Spallation Source ERIC. She is also Chair of the board for the Faculty of Engineering at Lund university and chair at the life science incubator Smile.

She is former First Governor for Region Skåne between 2010 and 2014 and has also been vice chair at Lund University board. During the years in Region Skåne Ms Kinhult also chaired the Öresundskomiten, the Swedish Regional Partnership for EU Funds and the Öresund Interreg Committee.

Her background before being elected in 1999, was in manufacturing electronics. She left the family enterprise as CEO in 2004 after more than 20 years in the business.

​​​​​​​She holds a BSc in Health Economics from The University of Phoenix and has studied political science at both Stockholm and Lund universities.
